Dorothy Ann Dodd Jackson,85, formerly of Eden, died February 7, 2016 at Salemtowne Retirement Community in Winston-Salem.
 
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, February 11, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 5 - 7 PM, at Fair Funeral Home in Eden.
 
Born in Whitmell, VA, she graduated from State Teachers College, now Longwood University. Dot taught school before her marriage and was a devoted wife and mother. She was an amazing caretaker for her husband as he battled Alzheimer's. She was a dedicated Presbyterian and served several times as both an Elder and Deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Eden, as well as a Board member of Glade Valley School. She was an avid seamstress and cook; many times her children would wake in the morning and she had sewn outfits for them during the night.  She loved having the entire family for holidays and at the beach.
 
She is survived by daughters Laura Owens (Paul) of Hickory, NC, Ellen Long (Chuck) of Winston-Salem, NC, and Amy Blackmer (Dana) of Richmond, VA, sister Addie Wilkerson (Bob) of Brevard, NC, grandchildren Alison Ullman of Philadelphia, PA, Will Owens of Hong Kong, Martha Ullman of Richmond, VA,  William Long (Kaci) of Salisbury, NC, Lee and Janie Blackmer of Richmond, VA, Joseph Sandler of Pittsburgh, PA, and Nina Sandler of Montpelier, VA. 
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Estelle Dodd, sister Myrtle Sours, brothers Elton Dodd and Dennis Dodd, her husband Arthur Lee Jackson, and daughter Martha Ann Jackson.
