Charles Anderson Stophel, age 85 of 2924 Huntington Trail, Cascade, VA  passed away on Sunday morning at his home.

 

A funeral service will be held 2 pm Wednesday at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

 

Mr. Stophel was born September 5, 1930 in Harnett County to the late Edgar Charles Stophel and Mamie Moore Stophel.  He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and he was retired from Fieldcrest Mills and Dan River Mills. Mr. Stophel was a carpenter, farmer and loved to sing.

 

Preceding him in death along with his parents were brothers, John and  Ernest Stophel and sister Edna Stevens.

 

Surviving are wife of 61 years, Mary Stophel of the home; sons, Charles "Chuck" Edwin Stophel and wife Tammie, Dwight Anderson Stophel and wife Tracie; daughers, Ramona Buckner, Janet Soyars and Kimberly Bennett and husband Russell; 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Paul Stophel and wife Bonnie, Wayne Stophel and wife Martha, Garry Stophel and wife Suzanne; sisters, Margie Frazier, Ruby West and husband Ralph, Linda Fargis and husband Ronald; and his best friend his dog Andy.

 

Family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home.
