On Wednesday the thirteenth of January 2016, Chadwick (Chad) Sterling Clark, of 124 Gayle Avenue, passed away at Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, North Carolina.

The visitation will be held at Fair Funeral Home Saturday, January the sixteenth from six o’clock in the evening until eight o’clock in the evening. The funeral will be held at First Baptist Church of Eden on Sunday, January the seventeenth at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.

A 1990 graduate of John Motley Morehead High School, Chad took outstanding pride in his alma mater. Chad was a star athlete-- lettering in football, swimming, baseball, and wrestling. Chad wore number 60 on the football field, but used his voice as an instrument singing tenor and baritone in the Morehead High School vocal ensemble under the direction of Mr. Dwayne Best.

An alumni of Appalachian State University, those who knew Chad well knew he bled black and gold every day (but especially Saturdays). During his time in Boone, Chad was active and incredibly passionate about his involvement in the Army R.O.T.C. Ranger program.

Chad had many pastimes, but the one he enjoyed most was running. Chad would go through running shoes like they were candy, but the more miles he put on his running shoes the more he fell in love with the direction which running gave him. Above all, Chad was a dad. If you asked him about his daughter, Kately Grayce, he always exuded a sense of pride. If you were to ask Kately about her dad, she would tell you that he taught her to throw a football with a mean spiral, how to shoot a 12-gauge shotgun, and that he was proud to be her dad.

He is survived by his daughter, Kately Grayce Clark of Summerfield; parents, Lonnie G. and Betty Crutchfield Clark of the home; brother, Gray Clark and wife, Elisa of Charlotte; and two nieces, Cathryn Virginia Clark and Elisabeth Gray Clark of Charlotte.

Memorial contributions can be sent to the Major Larry Bauguess Memorial fund. The Larry Bauguess Memorial fund goes toward supplying scholarships for students looking to attend college and looks to improve baseball fields within local communities. Chad was incredibly passionate about this memorial fund for his fellow R.O.T.C. brother who was killed in action in Afghanistan.

Kately, Betty and Lonnie, we've been blessed by a young man who radiated POSITIVE in what he did and said! Others caught it from him and maybe still passing it on. We'd still like to hear him talk about his 5 yrs. in Glee Club. He gave his best as no doubt he did in everything he touched. To God be the glory for Chad Clark's time with us. The R.
