Mildred Chumley Carter, 72, of 252 East Aiken Road, Eden, passed away Saturday, December 5 at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. on Tuesday December 8, at Fair Funeral Home, in Eden with burial to follow at Dan View Cemetery.

Mrs. Carter was born on June 7, 1943 to the late Thomas Lester Chumley and Bessie Gibson Chumley in the Draper section of Eden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul David Carter of Eden; her infant child, Paul D. Carter Jr.; and her two brothers, Jack and Ralph Chumley.

Surviving are her son, Scott Carter of Cascade,Va; two grand children, Kaitlyn and Callan Carter of Cascade; her caregiver and niece Abbie Walker of Eden; four sisters, Florine Ward and husband Henry of Reidsville, Faye Chumley of Eden, Betty Sue Van Horn of Eden, Kay Billingsley and husband Pat of Eden; one brother, James Chumley of Conway, South Carolina; two aunts, Doris Nichols, and Jaunita Gibson; Mrs. Carter is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and the Buffkin family.

Visitation will be held Monday, from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. at Fair Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at other times at 252 East Aiken Road, Eden N.C.

Mildred and I were life long friends. We went all through school together.We really had some good times together. She took me to get my Drivers License in Leaksville. I will miss ours chats on the phone. Im sure I will see you again.Rest in Peace My Friend! Love You, Mildred, "Fuzz"
