Russell Roland Gregory, Sr. 87, of 1329 Morgan Ford Road in Ridgeway, VA passed away Monday morning, September 28, 2015, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, October 1, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Gregory Family Cemetery on Drag Mountain Road in Ridgeway.

Mr. Gregory was born October 15, 1927 in Leaksville (now Eden), NC, to the late Thomas Gregory and Effie Elizabeth Haynes Gregory. He was a retired farmer, logger and truck driver as well as a volunteer fireman in Ridgeway for 50 years.

He is survived by his sons, Russell R. Gregory, Jr. and wife, Sandra and Kenneth E. Gregory and wife, Elizabeth; grandson, Justin Gregory and wife, Megan all of Ridgeway; great-granddaughter, Ella Parker Gregory; and four step-grandchildren, Tim Roberge and wife, Chrys, Dawn Williamson and husband, David, Lisa Spero and husband, Richard, and Susan Doyle and husband, Kevin; eight step-great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Seth, Zackery, Sophia, Evelyn, Joel , Josie, and Alec.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mason Odell Gregory; brother, William Thomas Gregory; and sister, Ruby Gregory Craddock.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 4, Ridgeway, VA 24148.

This wonderful man will be sincerely missed. Visiting Ridgeway just won't be the same without a visit to his beloved home. We respected this man greatly, and always looked forward to his life lessons and stories which will keep his memory part of us forever.
