Marie London Barker, of "THE LONDON TRIO", formerly of North Main Street in the Draper section of Eden and since 2007 of Tall Timber Lane in Reidsville, went to heaven on Sunday afternoon, September 27, 2015 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County in Wentworth.

A celebration of Marie's life in song will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, October 3, at Freedom Baptist Church, 471 Stone Road in Reidsville. Burial will follow in Danview Cemetery.

A Rockingham County native, Mrs. Barker was born January 24, 1939 to the late Raymond E. London and Thelma Dishmon London. She was a graduate of Ruffin High School Class of 1957 and a member of Freedom Baptist Church. Marie, of course, loved singing with the TRIO but also truly enjoyed oil painting and was well known for her sewing. Marie loved baking and wedding cakes were one of her favorites. She was a retiree of Karastan Service Center and continued her certifications even after her retirement.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Smith and husband, Bobby; grandson, Justin Smith; and three sisters, Fay London Caskie, Betsy London Kelly and husband, Don, and Janice "Jay" London Ray, all of Reidsville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David William Barker.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (2 to 3 PM) at Freedom Baptist Church and other times at the home of her sister, Betsy Kelly, 207 Strawberry Road in Reidsville, beginning on Thursday, October 1st.

The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to Freedom Baptist Church (Building Fund), 471 Stone Road, Reidsville, NC 27320.

Marie was a precious lady. She trained me at the Karastan Service Center back in mid 80's for Customer Service. She had such a sweet smile. She was soft spoken, patient, kind and a pleasure to work with. My Husband and I offer our sincere condolences to the Fsmily. Karion Price Roberts and Scott Roberts

Dear Family, We wish that we could be with you at this time but we are sending our love to you all from across the globe. While we grieve for our loss, we know that heaven has gained one who loved Jesus above all else. And, we rejoice that Nana Marie and Papa Dave are back together. I wish that I could be at the celebration in song on Saturday and play again for the Trio. The rafters will ring with the songs that are so loved and I still hear in my head nearly on a daily basis. We treasure the time that we had together with Marie and Cathy's family in Sydney just a few years ago. So glad we could see Marie then. We will truly have More to Go to Heaven for than we had Yesterday. All our love to all of you. Phil, Lenna, Kristen and Andrew Waters (Melbourne, Australia)

I still have great memories of Nanna Marie and Pappa Dave's house from my childhood. She was like a mother to our mother and a grandmother to myself and my sister. She would always feed us wonderful food and ensure we were comfortable. We would spend hours looking at all of the pictures and knick-knacks scattered around her house. She will be sorely missed and my prayers and condolences go to the whole Barker clan. Andrew Waters
