Monsie Mazine Smart Combs, 86, of 1809 E. Maryland Avenue in Eden, passed away Friday afternoon, August 7, 2015 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, August 12 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Danview Cemetery.

Mrs. Combs was born June 5, 1929 in Patrick County, Virginia, daughter of the late Walter Franklin Smart and Mary Madgeline Fain Smart. She loved sewing and gardening and taking care of her children. Monsie was a long-time and faithful member of Central Baptist Church. She loved her Lord and loved reading her Bible.

She is survived by her husband, James Alfred Combs, of the home; two sons, Reverend Danny Combs of Eden and Reverend Eric Combs and wife, Rebecca of Pinnacle; two grandsons, Nicholas Combs and wife, Julie and Brandon Combs; two great-grandchildren; and nephew, Reverend Tommy Combs of Palatka, FL, who is officiating the service.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Keith Combs; four brothers, Henry, Monroe, Frank, and Harvey Smart; and sister Evelyn Smart.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, (1 - 2 PM) at Fair Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church, 404 E. Meadow Road, Eden, NC 27288.
