Donald Staton Hodges, age 68 formerly of 320 Stone Rd., Reidsville, NC passed away Friday July 31, 2015 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County in Wentworth, NC.

The funeral service will be held 2pm Tuesday August 4th at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Happy Home Christian Church Cemetery in Ruffin, NC.

Donald Hodges was born August 18, 1946 in his home place in the Happy Home community of Ruffin, NC to the late Claude Staton and Minnie Hooker Hodges. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was an avid bluegrass fan and loved playing his banjo dearly. He retired from the Rockingham County Landfill where he worked as a maintenance supervisor. Surviving are his daughter Sheila Hurst and husband Todd of Eden, son James Hodges and wife Barbara of Reidsville, NC, brothers Tim Hodges and wife Debrah of Ruffin, NC, Rodney Hodges of Pelham, NC, sisters Carla Rierson of Eden and Teresa Haynes and husband Edward of Oakridge, NC and a grandson Matthew Hurst of Eden. Preceding him in death along with his parents is his sister Carol Whitley formerly of Reidsville, NC.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Doraine Shropshire, close friend of Donald.

Visitation will be held Monday evening 6 until 8pm at Fair Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Rockingham County: 2150 Hwy 65, Wentworth, NC 27375, or to the Rockingham County Animal Shelter in Eden: 205 Boone Rd. Eden, NC 27288.

My name is Deana Hodges. I am the daughter of Herman Dillard and Mary "Sue" (Roberts) Hodges. My Dad Herman had several brothers & sisters and waa from N.C. Some of His siblings were my uncle Staton Hodges, Uncle Doug Hodges, Uncle Gordon Hodges, Aunt Helen (Hodges) Keller,  Uncle Carroll (who lived in Shreveport La), and I cant remember the others names as I was just a young kid when I saw them last. One my dad's nephews raised a opposum or skunk way back then. My maternal Grandma was Susie Viola (Aunt Ola to mant) Roberts. My Dad was born in or around Eden, NC. I remember hearing that my granpa Hodges had a first name or middle name of Swanson as my brother Terry Swanson Hodges was named after him. I have a younger sister named Denise whom everyone called "Nee-cee" whenbwere were kids. I am HOPING to locate family Hodges relatives in and around Eden and find my roots. IF ANYONE READING THIS IS OR KNOWS ANY OF MY RELATIVES, PLEASE REACH OUT TO THEM AND TO ME. I live in WA state now but plan to travel and find as many living relatives as I possibly can (time to check off mu bucket list),  hoping to re-meet those I have such vivid memories of and their families. Its been way too long and its well passed time. Thank you for reading this and please don't hesitate to call me anytime. I have truly missed & loved so many of you for so long.
