Mrs. Hattie Sue West, age 84, of Eden, North Carolina passed away on June 25, 2015 at Morehead Memorial Nursing Center in Eden, NC.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, June 29, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

She was born November 5, 1930 in Rockmart, Georgia to the late L.C. and Ruby West. Mrs. West was a devoted mother and wife and a very active member of the Leaksville United Methodist Church in Eden. She taught Sunday School to youth for years and was an active member of church committees. Mrs. West was known for her culinary skills and often cooked Sunday night meals for the teenage youth at the church. She cooked and delivered meals on a regular basis for the sick and elderly. She was a Girl Scout Brownie leader for the Rockingham County chapter. She was especially fond of her grandchildren, Andy and Mary, and devoted many hours playing with them and teaching them about life. Mrs. West is survived by her husband of 63 years, John L. West, Jr. of the home in Eden; a son - Mike West of Las Vegas, Nevada; a daughter ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú Mary West Ferrell of Boone, NC; and 2 grandchildren - Andy Ferrell of Black Mountain, NC and Mary Elizabeth West of Las Vegas, NV.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Nita and Jean, and her brother, Donald.

Those who knew Mrs. West loved her kind smile and her love of people of all walks of life. She was truly loved by many and touched so very many hearts through the years in her quiet, gentle way. She will not be forgotten . .
