J. Kermit Willis, age 94 of 914 E. Meadow Rd. Eden passed away early Saturday June 20, 2015 at Jacob's Creek Nursing and Rehab Center in Madison, NC. The funeral service will be held Tuesday June 23th, 2pm at Central Christian Church in Eden, with burial to follow in the Martin-Haley Family Cemetery in Axton, VA.

Kermit was born May 31, 1921 in Axton, VA to the late Riley and Addie Haley Willis. He was a gunsmith most of his life and was well known for his work. He also worked for Fieldcrest Mills for 27 years as a scheduler where he retired. He was a member of Central Christian Church for over 55 years and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1942 to 1945.

Surviving are his two sons John Willis of Bethany, NC, Robert Willis of the home, two nephews Frank Willis and wife Julia of Climax, NC and Ronnie Willis and wife Modine of Summerfield, NC and his special friend Otelia Bailey of Eden. Preceeding him in death along with his parents are his wife Peggie Sigmon Willis, three brothers Jesse, Landon and Norwood Willis and two sisters Grace Taylor and Pauline Burke.

Mary Frances and I would like to express our condolences to the family of Mr. Kermit Willis. Kermit was Mary's last surviving uncle from the Willis family. She was particularly hurt by the news of Kermit's passing. We have been in prayer nightly for Kermit for some time and trust he is at peace with God in Christ Jesus.
