Otis Leon Dishmon, Jr., age 53, ?¢‚Ǩ?ìLee?¢‚Ǩ¬ù to his family and friends, of 6501 US 29 Business, Reidsville, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his loving wife, family, and friends. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 16th at 2 pm at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Reidsville. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Fair Funeral Home 1 ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú 2pm.

Lee was born in Leaksville, NC, on May 10, 1962, the first child of Otis Leon Dishmon, Sr., and Betty Coleman Hill.

Lee loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener and fisherman all of his life. Identifying with and championing the cause of the underdog was also a theme throughout his life. Lee took great pride in his tenacity by overcoming a number of challenges, discovering in the process several gifts that would shape his life. He was an avowed animal lover, having rescued a number of animals that became special pets throughout his life. He will undoubtedly have ?¢‚Ǩ?ìJingles,?¢‚Ǩ¬ù ?¢‚Ǩ?ìBeedee,?¢‚Ǩ¬ù and ?¢‚Ǩ?ìSweet Pea?¢‚Ǩ¬ù waiting for him. Lee was also a gifted, self-taught musician who played a variety of instruments, but had a special affinity for the acoustic guitar. Over the years, he played at many fundraisers for Habitat for Humanity as well as for numerous other charities. He truly enjoyed sharing his gift of music with his friends and loved ones. Lee was also gifted with the ability to make others laugh. He was known and loved by many for his quiet, quick wit, timing, and wickedly dry sense of humor. Empathetic and always a good listener, Lee drew people to himself naturally through kindness, quiet strength, genuine compassion, and understanding. Lee graduated from Morehead High School in 1980. Many years later, he would mentor students there, one of the most rewarding jobs of his life.

Lee was preceded in death by his father, in addition to his lifelong friend and fishing buddy, Mike Lewis. He is survived by his beloved wife Debra ?¢‚Ǩ?ìDebbie?¢‚Ǩ¬ù Newnam Dishmon of the home; his son Bryan of Reidsville; his mother Betty; his brother Randy, both of Montclair, N. J., and his sister Lori (Dishmon) Dixon of Eden, N.C., in addition to each of their extended families.

Instead of flowers, Lee wanted donations made to the Rockingham County Animal Shelter (Cherokee Camp Rd, Reidsville, NC 27320), or he hoped you would, in his name, do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness to some poor unfortunate soul.

Special thanks go to Kamalakshi Dishmon, Hospice of Rockingham County, and to the many people throughout Lee?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s life who challenged and encouraged him, those who saw more in him than he at times saw within himself.

"Give to your brothers when they are in need. Offer up thanks for the gifts you've received. For there's treasures in heaven for the generous few for that is the gospel according to Luke." Thank you Lee for that wonderful song. My favorite memory of you and your great gift of talent. See you in the sweet by and by. Chip.

I first met Lee when he worked at Etna on Barnes St. in Reidsville. I went to pay for my gas and he was sitting in the booth playing his guitar. I saw him for the first time in years when he played at the BACKSTREET BUZZ coffee shop. We talked each other's ears off. Great guy. I sure hope to run into him again in a better place.

I worked with Lee for several years. A pleasure to work with and never a dull moment. I have never net anybody quite like Lee. He had the ability to calm, nurture, soothe and reconcile at will. Always had a interesting story to tell and would give you the shirt off of his back. We shared the love of our animals. One of the the most kind and caring people I have ever known. I found that he had an uncanny judge of character, that I doubted at first. He proved me wrong many times. Lee, I will miss you greatly. I learned a lot from you. Rest in peace my friend. Please save me a seat upstairs!

Dear Debbie, family and close friends. We are so sorry to hear this news about Lee. He was a great guy and extremely talented. He got to know him when he and Steve were in school and reconnected years later with his work on our computer. He was always so helpful and so kind. He came to the house one day to help with our printer, sat down at our "very out of tune piano" and he told us how much it needed tuning. We laugh about that, but that was the musician in him. He will be missed by so many people. Prayers for all.
