Stedman "Mack" Maxell Jones, age 85 of 228 Bedford Drive, Eden passed away on Wednesday May 6, 2015 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.

A funeral service will be held 3 pm Saturday May the 9th at Fair Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Meeks section of Woodlawn Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Rockingham County Veterans Honor Guard.

Mr. Jones was born January 28, 1930 in the Spray section of Eden to the late Luther Watt and Annie Wells Jones. He served in the Merchant Marines before he joined the US Navy. Mack was a truck driver for Mabe Trucking and retired from Fleetmaster Express and prior to that he was the senior driver for C & N Evans Trucking.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by his wife Hovis Pratt Jones; son, Donnie Jones; sister, Erma Bateman and brother, Jack Jones.

Surviving are daughters, Linda Hay and husband Magdy of New York and Ruth "Charlie" Tonkin and husband Chuck of Knoxville, TN; sons, Artie Jones and wife Kellie of Eden and Jack Jones and wife Kim of Mayodan; brother, William "Bill" Jones of Knoxville; grandchildren, Michael, Courtney, Rachel, Lauren, Zachary and Jaclyn; great grandchildren, Alexis, Natlie and Gabriel.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening 7-9 pm at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son, Artie, 442 Greenway Drive, Eden, NC.

Memorial contributions offered to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375 or to The Rockingham County Honor Guard, 242 Strutton Lane, Eden, NC 27288.
