Frances Horsley Compton, age 91 passed away on Saturday morning April 18, 2015 at Morehead Nursing Center. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday April 21, 2015, 2pm at Dan View Cemetery.

Frances was born October 14, 1923 in Rockingham County to the late Claude and Bertha Minter Horsley. She graduated from Leaksville High School and retired from Fieldcrest Mills after 52 years of service and was a member of the 50 year club. Frances was a blood donor for many years and donated gallons of blood throughout her lifetime. She was a member of Draper Methodist Church and also attended Immanuel Friends Church.

Surviving are brother, Leonard "Slick" W. Horsley of Eden; nephew, Bill Horsley and wife Laura of Greensboro; niece, Cheri Gilley and husband Dock of North Myrtle Beach, SC; great nephews Len Horsley, Brian Gilley, Derek Gilley; four great great nephews and one great great niece; special friend Velva Lumpkins of Eden. Preceeding her in death along with her parents is her husband Conrad Compton.

The family will receive friends and family following the graveside service. Memorial contributions can be made to Immanuel Friends Church: 502 S.Fieldcrest Rd. Eden, NC 27288, or to The Eden Humane Society: 205 Boone Rd. Eden, NC, 27288.

Leonard and family, I'm so sorry to hear of Frances's passing. She was a good friend of mine. I enjoyed doing things for her. She was always good to me. She was a hard-working lady and I know she will be greatly missed.I know she is in Heaven now enjoying her Lord and Saviour, her friends and family. You will be in my prayers.
