James "Bob" Alexander Hunt, Jr., 72, of 896 Huntington Trail in Cascade, VA, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem, VA.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, April 19, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Reverend Haywood Alcorn of Willis Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hunt Family Cemetery military rites performed by Rockingham County Veteran's Honor Guard.
Mr. Hunt was born February 14, 1943 in Cascade, VA to the late James Hunt, Sr. and Theodora Robertson Hunt. For many years, Bob was a member of Harmony Methodist Church where his family attended. He was a graduate of Brosville High School, Class of 1961, where he was very active in sports. Bob served in the US Air Force Military Air Police and was a Color Guard member.
He is survived by brother, Jerry Hunt and wife, Kathy Glass Hunt of Cascade; sisters, Temple Adams and husband, Travis of Concord, Gay Hunt and her lifetime friend, Wayne Hicks "Tom" of Eden, Patricia Meeks and husband, Eric "Ricky" of Cascade, and Peggy Wade and husband, Benjamin "Butch" also of Cascade; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his brother, Terry Ronald Hunt.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 - 2 PM) at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
