Mary Lawson Lancaster, age 85 of 592 NC 700 West, Eden,NC passed away at her home on Saturday Morning March 7, 2015.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm Wednesday at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Overlook Cemetery.
Mrs. Lancaster was born March 26, 1929 in the Spray section of Eden, to the late Moses Arvel Lawson and Nannie Ore Lawson. She was 1969 graduate of Rockingham Community College with a degree in Nursing. Mrs. Lancaster retired from Morehead Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Spray Baptist Church. Mary was an avid horse lover and for many years she taught riding lessons at Hillside Stables.
Preceding her in death along with her parents was her husband Marvin Lancaster.
Surviving are daughters, Laverne Lancaster and Sherri Lancaster Battaille; sons, Maynard Lancaster and wife Millie, Tim Lancaster and wife Carolyn; grandchildren, Joel Lancaster, Cheryl Pickrell Craddock, Kimberly Battaille and Ashley Lancaster Johnson; great grandchildren, Erica DeHart, Taylor DeHart and Payne DeHart, Alleigh Craddock and Ansley Johnson; great great grandchild, Marlee DeHart; special friend, Linda Gibson; and Mary's pet dog, Lacy.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Mary for years. She used to give me my Allergy shots and then later in life, I worked at MMH and worked on third floor where she was a nurse. She was such a great caring nurse and really cared for the patients and other staff members. She always thought of others before herself. She had a heart of gold. I will be praying for all of you. My mom Elaine Smith, sends her love and prayers. She really thought a lot of your mother too. She and I will be praying for you all as you go through this difficult time. Just remember to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
