Cheryl Lynne Matthews Nooe, 56, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after a brave battle with breast cancer.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, February 4, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in Overlook Cemetery.
Cheryl graduated from Morehead High School in 1976 and from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1980. She was destined for a career that utilized her great capacity for caring for others. For the past 20 years, she's been a social worker at the Rockingham County Student Health Center where she's been able to make a huge difference in the lives of countless students.
Cheryl is survived by a loving family. She shared 28 years of marriage with her devoted husband, Bruce, of the home. It was her greatest honor to be a mother to her children, Caroline, of Chapel Hill and, Bennet, of the home. She also cherished her parents, Harold Way Matthews, Jr. and Dorothy Deitz Matthews, also of Eden, and her brother, Edward Ray Matthews of Atlanta, GA.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday (11 am to 12 Noon) at Fair Funeral Home and other times at their home at 226 Highland Drive.
In lieu flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rockingham County Student Health Center at 117 East Kings Highway, Eden, NC 27288, or to the Morehead High School Boosters Club at 134 N. Pierce Street, Eden, NC 27288.

I found out from Danny that you were at C.G.'s memorial and I could have cried when I found that out and realized I could have seen you. I would have told you again that you were my favorite teacher of ALL times. You taught me Civics at Leaksville Jr. High.
