Mrs. Elizabeth Jones Tate White, age 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 4, 2014.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, December 7, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.

Elizabeth was born October 1, 1920 in Henry County, VA, the daughter of the late William Robert and Annie Richardson Jones. She loved her children and especially those grandchildren, and the great-grandchildren were the apple of her eye! Elizabeth was a graduate of Leaksville High School and retired from American Tobacco Company after about 35 years. Mom loved her summers at Smith Mountain Lake for over 26 years.

She is survived by son, John Wayne Tate, Sr. and wife, Betty, of Eden; daughter, Betty Carol Ellington and husband, James, of Reidsville and Glenda Gunn and husband, Starling, of Eden; her grandchildren, Daphne Wall, Daryl Ellington, Starling Gunn, Jr., John Wayne Tate, Jr., Joy Chappell, Gina Byrd and Darian Ellington; great-grandchildren, Dustin Coltrane, Lance Corporal Jake Wall, Jesse Wall, Bryce Byrd, Holly Tate, Nic Ellington, Logan Ellington, Dawson Ellington, Blake Byrd, Taylor Ellington, Tate Chappell, Charley Chappell, and Dylan Tate; and special friends, Richard Sheckells and Tina Wood.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, John B. Tate and Herman White; brothers, Paul, William, and Jim Jones; sister, Frances O'Dell; and half-sister, Tracie Stutts.

The family will receive friends on Saturday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of daughter, Betty Carol Ellington, 181 Moir Mill Road in Reidsville.
