Mary Ruth Pierce Shields, 83, of 718 Hodges Street in Eden, passed away Tuesday evening, December 2, 2014, at Morehead Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 5, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery.
Mrs. Shields was born April 13,1931 in High Point, NC and was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Wooten and husband, Danny, of Eden; son, Tim Shields and wife, Kim, of Eden; one grandchild, Taryn Wooten of Galax, VA; nephews, Larry Nathan Pierce and Samuel Wayne Pierce; and nieces, Lynn Gauldin Wright and Kay Pierce Long.
Preceding her in death was her mother, Dora Stroud Pierce; two sisters, Leona Gauldin and Doris A. Pierce; and two brothers, Buck and Marvin Pierce.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (10 - 11 AM) on Friday at Fair Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
