Locksley Saunders Cannon, 67, of Eden, went home to be with her Lord and parents on Wednesday, October 22, 2014.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, October 25, at Leaksville Moravian Church.

Born in the Leaksville section of Eden in the old Leaksville Hospital on March 23, 1947, she was the daughter of William Saunders and Maybud Martin Saunders. Locksley graduated from Morehead High School and spent most of her working career in the General Offices of Fieldcrest Mill, Inc., first in the Accounts Payable Department and later in the Medical Department. She also worked a short time with Dr. Carl Nash, Radiologist.

Locksley was a talented pianist and organist. Affectionately known as "Little Bud", Locksley exhibited her talent by playing for the Morehead chorus, school plays, musicals, and local beauty pageants, all which she thoroughly enjoyed. Locksley was a life-time member of Leaksville Moravian Church and was the church pianist and organist for approximately 15 years. Locksley loved Moravian music and not only played it but lived it.

She is survived by her aunt, Anna Martin of Eden; cousins, Barry Martin and wife, Marie, of Eden and Ken and Bonnie Winn of Baltimore, MD. In addition, she was survived by her dear friends, confidants, and caregives, Irene Crowder of Eden and Ken Cannon of Mt. Gilead, NC

Locksley was preceded in death by her father who died when she was four years old, her mother who died in 1984, and all her aunts and uncles with the exception of one.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Music Department of Leaksville Moravian Church, 712 McConnell Street, Eden, NC 27288.

Locksley and I were classmates in school. She was always full of energy and brought joy to those around her. I know she will be missed. I am thankful God placed her in our lives for these years. My prayers are with the family and those who cared for her. May the Lord comfort you with his presence and sustain you in your faith.

I graduated with Locksley from Morehead High in 1965. She was such a sweet and lovely person both inside and out. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
