James "Jacky" Murray, 77, of 283 Periwinkle Road in Eden, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2014, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

A funeral service will be held at 3 PM on Thursday, August 21, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel . Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Murray was born March 25, 1937 in Leaksville, NC, to the late James Newman Murray and Ruby Cockerham Murray. He was a 1955 graduate of Tri-City High School and a retiree of Karastan Mills after 30 years of service. Jacky loved antique cars and owned several through the years. He and his wife enjoyed the friendship and "cruising" with their friends and fellow car lovers. Jacky attended Riverview Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Arlene Woody Murray, of the home; daughter, Bambi M. Willis; two sons, Jeff Murray and Jack Murray and wife, Cathy, all of Eden; six grandchildren, Kisha W. Thompson and husband, Steve, Rich Willis and wife, Shannon, Hunter and Taylor Murray, Isabela and Zoe Murray; and great-grandson, Ethan Evans.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth "Kenny" Wayne Murray.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (2 - 3 PM) at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home, 283 Periwinkle Road.
