Clarence "Pete" Shockley, 80, of 718 Osborne Street in Eden, passed away Thursday evening, July 10, 2014, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County in Wentworth.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, July 13, at Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery with military rites performed by Rockingham County Honor Guard.

Mr. Shockley was born June 27, 1934 in Leaksville, North Carolina, to the late Eugene and Iva Shockley. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a US Air Force veteran. Mr. Shockley was a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills . After retirement he worked for Mitchell Drugs.

He is survived by his daughter, Tracey Shockley Talley of Madison; three sons, Buddy Shockley and wife, Jo-Ann of Madison, Jon Shockley and Jeff Shockley, both of Eden; eight grandchildren, Jordan and Jay Shockley, Megan and Kenny Shockley, Brenna and Harley Talley, and Tyler and Ryan Shockley; brother, Earl Shockley of Eden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Martin Shockley and two brothers, Coy and Calvin Shockley.

He was very fond of his family at Mitchell Drugs as well as his church family.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, Tracey Talley, 138 Hawks Nest Road in Madison.

Dear Tracey, Jeff, Buddy, & Jon - I am deeply saddened to hear of Pete's passing. I am sure he had many relatives and friends there to greet him as he made his journey home.
