John Berkley Webster, Sr., 92, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014, in Cypress, Texas.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, May 10, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery.

Mr. Webster was born September 13, 1921 in Eden, NC, to the late Walter and Jeanetta Webster. He served for 30 years as Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy aboard numerous ships and campaigns before, during, and after World War II. After retiring from service, he remained close to the Navy by engaging in numerous shipbuilding programs. His love for the Navy remained with him throughout his entire life.

He is survived by his brother, Walter Webster and family; daughter, Victoria Webster; and son, John Webster, Jr.; grandchildren, Lydia Sidaros and her husband, Peter, Sarah White and her husband, Nicholas, Alicia Alagala and her husband, Matthew, Matthew Webster and Jessie Vance and her husband, Ronnie; and great-granddaughter, Berkley Sidaros.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Alice Howard, Laura Webster, Verlie Hatcher, and Evelyn Harkness; his brothers, Kurt, Jerry, and Jack Webster and his wife of almost 60 years, Ethel Shively Webster.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to his beloved VFW brothers and post: VFW Post 9182, 6206 George Bush Drive, Katy, TX 77493.

I have many good memories of family visits, Vicky and John, when we were growing up. It was always special when your family came and we could all get together at your grandparents' home.
