Christine Meeks Oakley passed away Monday morning, March 17, 2014, at Morehead Nursing Center.
A funeral service will be held at 3 PM on Wednesday, March 19, at Overlook Mausoleum in Eden.
Mrs. Oakley was born June 20, 1925 in Rockingham County, daughter of the late John and Sarah Gilley Meeks. She was a former member of Wayside Baptist Church in Ridgeway, VA and was a retiree of American Tobacco Company. Mrs. Oakley was also the retired co-owner of Oakley's Produce and Nursery in Eden.
She is survived by her loving nieces, Susan Nelson, Stephanie Kingston and nephew, Greg Nelson of Eden; sister, Sunshine Meeks Hand of Madison ; brother, Orear Meeks of Reidsvile; and special caregiver, Mrs. Elizabeth Long of Eden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Oakley; sisters, Alberta Meeks Sams, Evelyn Meeks Davis; special sister-in-law, Audrey Louise Meeks; and brother-in-law, Bill Davis.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the mausoleum.
