Lucy Light Overby, 94, passed away Wednesday morning, March 12, 2014, at Eden Estates.
A funeral service will be held at 3 PM on Monday, March 17, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery.
Mrs. Overby was born July 22, 1919 in Rockingham County, NC, daughter of the late Plato C. and Pearl Biggs Light. She was married to John Henry Overby, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son, Anthony John "Butch" Overby of Eden; two daughters, Joan Hall and husband, Roger of Summerfield, and Glenda Thompson and husband, Harold, of Forest, VA; two grandsons, Jeff Hall and wife, Terri of Summerfield and Kevin Thompson of Richmond, VA; a granddaughter, Maria Thompson Loos and husband, Karl of Rustburg, VA; three great-granddaughters, Kristy Hall of Summerfield, and Eva and Wesleigh Loos of Rustburg, VA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia Kay Overby; brothers, John, Bill, Roy, Bob, Raymond, and Diamond Light; and a sister, Geneva Stanley.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday (2 - 3 PM), at Fair Funeral Home.

Sadden me to hear of Lucy passing,Prayers go out to all the family.Lucy was a wonderful neihbor of mine for 25 years.She was one of the Smartest, and sweetest. I enjoyed many a day just sitting and talking don't think I ever left her home that she diden't give me a reason to smile.Visted her and the hosital after her fall and seen that same sweet smile on her face.I will miss her very much,may God took home another angel.
