Earl Wayne DeHart, 73, of 470 Quesinberry Road in Eden, passed away Tuesday evening, February 18, 2014, at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.

A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, February 22, at Overlook Cemetery.

Mr. DeHart was born November 4, 1940 in Eden, NC, the son of the late John Gates DeHart and Faye Burgart DeHart. He was a member of the Army Reserves and the Navy Reserves. Mr. DeHart was a member of the Eden Moose Lodge and after retiring worked for Lynrock Golf Course as Pro Shop clerk for 30 years of service.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Edna Gillie of Eden; two sons, Joe DeHart of Cary and Eric DeHart and wife, Kayla of Eden; step-daughter, Valarie Bellamy of Myrtle Beach, SC; six grandchildren, Erica DeHart, Taylor DeHart, Nate Jones, Caleb Bellamy, Britton Bellamy and Maggie-Louise Bellamy; two brothers, Bobby DeHart and Frankie DeHart, both of Eden; sister, Dora Ann Atha of Eden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph B. DeHart.

There will be a visitation 1:00 pm to 1:45 PM prior to the graveside on Saturday at Fair Funeral Home. The family will also gather other times at the home of his son, Eric, 912 Ellett Avenue in Eden.

Prayer go out to the family, I had a chance to meet Earl about 7 years ago at Lynrock Golf Course and I would always talk to him during the evening about the most random stuff. He was a great man.
