Bobby Ray Smith, age 78 of 1068 John Young Road, Lexington, NC passed away on Saturday January 18, 2014 at Moses Cone Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Monday at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden, with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Bobby was born February 23, 1935 in the Spray section of Eden to the late Herman and Augusta Murphy Smith. He was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a self employed painting contractor.
Surviving are daughter, Bette Smith Hutchens and husband Mark of Eden; son, Dennis Smith and wife Denise of Cascade VA; sister, Donna Kennon; brothers, Thomas Smith and wife Brenda,and Barry Smith all of Eden, Doug Smith and wife Debbie of Ridgeway.
Along with his parents, he was predeased by son, Steven Ray Smith.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Sunday at Fair Funeral Home and other times of his daughter, 1392 Tellowee Road, Eden.

I remember Bobby from many years ago playing ball. I admired him as a role model of sports, such great sportsmanship. Easy going person, caring about others and certainly a great father and grandfather.
