Lessie Eggleston Joyce, 93, formerly of Walnut Street in Eden, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 15, 2014, at Brian Center in Eden.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, January 17, at North Spray Christian Church. Burial will follow in Lawson Cemetery.

Mrs. Joyce was born November 9, 1920 in Spray, NC. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Maggie Hawkins Eggleston. Mrs. Joyce was a life long member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ until that church closed. She then joined North Spray Christian Church. She was a wonderful mother and loved her family dearly.

Surviving are her two sons, Larry O. Joyce and wife, Betty of Eden and Charles W. Joyce and wife, Ann of West Jefferson; daughter, Linda Hall and husband, Doug of Stoneville; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and special niece, Sara Washburn of Eden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Odell Joyce who passed away in 2005; her infant daughter, Karen; and sister, Lottie Calhoun.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (10 - 11 AM) at North Spray Christian Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to North Spray Christian Church, 521 Washburn Ave., Eden, NC 27288.

Leslie was a wonderful sweet person. I know she had a lot of health problems in the past few years but she had a deep faith that kept her smiling. Your in my prayers.

Lessie was one of the first people I met when I came to Eden; I have fond memories of visiting with her at Bayberry and Brian Center. She was always so kind to me and I enjoyed spending time with her. You are all in my prayers.
