Curtis Bryant Overby, 52, of 410 Harvey Street in Eden, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 8, at Old Time Baptist Church, 1121 E. Meadow Road in Eden. Burial will follow in Danview Cemetery.

Curt was born July 10, 1961 in Leaksville, NC. He graduated from Morehead High School in 1979 and his interest in music was already evident as he played trumpet in concert and in marching band for three years. Curt was also a self-taught pianist and organist. He was a devoted member of Old Time Baptist Church where he was music director and organist; also janitor, decorator and yard man. He loved gardening, flowers and all outdoor activities, especially four-wheeling in West Virginia with friends. Curt worked at Lowe's in Reidsville. He was a helper and friend to many and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his mother, Delano S. Overby of the home; father and step-mother, Pete and Wanda Overby; brothers, Stan Overby and wife, Dianne of Lewisville, Jeff Overby and wife, Jo Lyn and their daughter, Jordan and step-son, Brandon; sister, Michelle Nowlin and husband, Chad and their daugter, Stephanie Washburn; brothers, Clint Simpson and wife, Angela and their children, Sydney and Matthew, and Adam Simpson and his wife, Gina; and special friends, Justin, Lori, and Tanner and family.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at 410 Harvey Street or at his father's home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Old Time Baptist Church, 1121 E. Meadow Road, Eden, NC 27288.

To the family, We are saddened by the death of Curt. We met Curt when we attended Ole Time Baptist Church. He was loved by his church family. He was a friend to everyone. He loved his music and spent a lot of time getting music prepared for the church services. I will be praying for each of you during this very sad time. He was very dedicated to the Old- time baptist church in all his work, cleaning, and yard work and all he did.He will be greatly missed by all. His organ playing and music was so good. Delana & family, Our hearts hurt over the passing of Curt. Our hearts also rejoice in the fact that one day we will see Curt and his beaming smile again in heaven! I am in shock about Curt'S passing. I worked with him at Eden Yarns for six years and loved to stop by and talk to him. He was always picking at me, wanted to teach me to run his spinning frames while he was on break. I was very fond of him and enjoyed talking to him.
