Linton Clay Moore age 66 of 9510 NC Hwy 700, Ruffin passed away on Saturday evening January 4, 2014 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.
A graveside service will be held 1 pm Wednesday at Dan River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites performed by the Rockingham County Honor Guard. A visitation will be held at Fair Funeral Home from 11 till 12:30 p.m. prior to proceeding to the cemetery for the graveside service.
Linton was born November 9, 1947 in Rockingham County. He was a self-employed carpenter and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a Licensed Private Pilot and a bluegrass musician.
He was preceded by his father, Carl Leonard Moore.
Linton is survived by his wife, Rita Hill Moore of the home; sons Jason Moore and wife Mollie of Ruffin, Darren Moore and wife Amy of Keeling, VA; mother, Alease Moore of Ruffin; sisters June Stader of Reidsville and Debbie Mills of Ferrum, VA.; brother, Charles Moore of Roxboro, NC; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and his companion "Samson".

I want to share some good memories. When I was younger, I LOVED the bluegrass fly-ins that Linton and family hosted. We had many hours of playing and smiling with some of the best in bluegrass around. I remember my guitar fingers hurting from playing for so many hours.
I also remember as a young girl that Linton would fly over our house in his yellow plane. He would turn off the motor and yell out the window that he was coming down. He would re-fire and fly by. He would then circle and tip his wings at us girls waving back.
