Winona Mae Hudspeth Haynes, 84, of 1207 W. Fieldcrest Road in Eden, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013, at Morehead Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, January 5, 2014, at First United Methodist Church. A reception will be held immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be held following the reception, at Danview Cemetery.
Mrs. Haynes was born July 3, 1929 in Rockingham County. She was the daughter of the late Neal and Wilma Funderburk Hudspeth. Mrs. Haynes was a graduate of Wentworth High School, Class of 1948.
She is survived by her two daughters, Merenda Haynes and husband, David Olds, of Corpus Christi, TX, and Gail Haynes and husband, Richard Diehl of Scurry, TX; sister, Patsy Hudspeth Gammons of Waco, TX; sister-in-law, Dot Hale of Eden and Patsy Earles of Danville, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peachy V. Haynes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 130 N. Main Street, Eden, NC 27288.

You have my deepest sympathy at the death of your Mom. Winona was a wonderful lady. I remember her well from growing up and going to church with her. Upon my return visits to the church, she always made sure that I received a hello hug from her.
