James David (Jim) Jefferson, 79 of , of Reidsville, NC, the family announces his passing with great sadness,soon after suffering a massive stroke on December 20, 2013. A Memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, December 23rd at 2:00 pm, at the Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden, NC.

Mr. Jefferson was born on June 6, 1934, in Spray, NC, to the late Arthur William and Leona Lawson Jefferson. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War. He always retained a love for travel and global experiences and would frequently tell stories of his travels to 54 countries around the world.

He graduated from Piedmont Baptist College and attended Appalachian State University. He taught school in Eden and Madison during the 1960?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s and 1970?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s. He was acutely aware of the challenges that face students and had a special gift for creatively helping students who were academically challenged.

James always approached life with a curious and inquiring mind, was a loving father and supportive mentor. He built self esteem and confidence in young men as the Boy Scout leader of Troop 566 in Stoneville, and also on camping trips with his students to Floyd, VA on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Jim was Personnel Manager and Training Coordinator at Karastan, where he was actively involved with the Red Cross and President of the Eden United Way.

He was the founder and President of Tree Enterprises, Inc.

Mr. Jefferson was a member of Stoneville Presbyterian Church, a Rotarian and 32nd Degree Mason. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia (Tish) Jefferson Terry and husband, Charles, of Reidsville and Melissa Jefferson-Attieg and husband, Dr. Ahmed Attieg, of Amman, Jordan. Also surviving is a granddaughter, Alexa Terry Wilde and husband, Colt, of Marietta, Georgia. His brother, Tommy Jefferson and wife, Paula, of Eatonton, Georgia. In addition to his parents, his brother, Gerald, preceded him in death.

The family will meet with friends following the service at the Morehead-Fair House next to Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of Charles and Tish Terry, 356 Wendy Oak Road, Reidsville, NC.

Memorials may be made to Hospice or to a charity of one?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s choice.
