Eric Boatwright Johnson, 40, of Greensboro, passed away on November 9, 2013, at his home. A memorial service will be held for Eric on Sunday, November 17th at 2pm at the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant (501 S Mendenhall Street, Greensboro, NC).

In the very early hours on Saturday morning our son, father, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend died. He leaves behind his mother Joyce Fair Johnson, step-father Ed Johnson, sister Kendall Priest, son Cameron Phipps, daughter Riley Johnson, son Matthew Johnson, father Bill Johnson, the love of his life Julia Strickland and her son Bradley, Carrie Johnson, nieces Marley and Maddie, uncles, aunts, and numerous friends.

Eric loved life in a large way and his friends and family with a passion unbounded. A lifelong NC State fan, he always said you had to be tough to be a fan. And he was the toughest and most optimistic fan the Wolfpack had. He loved all animals, having snakes, hamsters, horses, fish, cats, and dogs as pets various times during his short 40 years. Most of all he loved his family and friends. He was loyal to his friends through thick and thin, his love never waning. He had no prejudices (except for tall people, everyone was taller than him) and was accepting of all. We are grieving so much now, our hearts broken in a billion pieces. But, if we can learn one thing from Eric, it would be to love life with an open heart. If we do that we don?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t lose Eric, we gain him.

He was a graduate of Gupton Jones Mortuary School in Atlanta, GA where he earned his A.D in Mortuary Science. He was a funeral service licensee and used that degree in the family business, Fair Funeral Home for several years.

Later he decided to move into something different and enjoyed being a long-haul truck driver before later becoming a landscaper where he could enjoy the outdoors.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to any animal rescue organization of your choice, in memory of Eric's love of animals. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.fairfunerahome.com
