Ben Franklin Lipford, Sr., 72, of 1116 Front Street in Eden, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013, at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 4 PM on Wednesday, October 16, at Draper Christian Church. Burial will follow in Danview Cemetery.
Mr. Lipford was born December 29, 1940, in Cascade, VA. He was the son of the late James Lee and Mamie Gatewood Lipford. Mr. Lipford was a member of Draper Christian Church. He was a retiree of Coca-Cola Distributors with 19 years of service, then later retired from Bassett Walker after 10 years.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Mills Lipford of the home; daughter, Lisa Dawn Lipford Pyrtle and husband, Tim of Eden; two sons, Ben F. Lipford, Jr. and wife, Lynn, and William "Bill" Lipford and wife, Becky both of Eden; nine grandchildren, Stephanie, Katie, Tyler, Brandi, Brandon, Lauren, Jordan, and Tristan; four great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Kayden, Bayden, and Bailey; sister, Zoena Mae Oakes and husband, Glen of Chatham, VA; five brothers, Sanford Lipford and wife, Barbara of Ruffin, Curtis "Cotton" Lipford of Mayfield, Claude Lipford and wife, Carolyn of Mayfield, Mack Lipford and wife, Pat of Greensboro, and Jack Lipford and wife, Betty Ann of Mayfield; and brother-in-law, Johnny Wilson of Axton, VA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Elsie Lipford and Doris Lipford Wilson; grandson, Spencer Williams; mother-in-law, Claudine Mills and father-in-law, Willie Mills.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 7 - 9 PM, at Fair Funeral Home, and other times at the home at 1116 Front St., Eden.
