Thomas Ray Eanes, 84,of 724 Meadow Green Village,Eden died on Friday, October 4, 2013. Mr. Eanes was born July 21, 1929 in Rockingham County.The funeral service will be at Fair Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 8 at 2:00 PM. Mr. Eanes was retired from the United States Air Force in 1968 and also served in the United States Army. He also retired from Lorillard Tobacco. Mr. Eanes had a lifelong love of bluegrass gospel music.
He is survived by wife, Martha Eanes; son Mark Eanes and wife Caroline of Charleston, SC; step-daughter Kay Watson and husband Neill; grandchildren Lucy Eanes, David and Chelsey Watson. He is also survived by sisters Idellis Stoots and husband James, and Pattie Horton and husband George, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, William Lewis Eanes and Hettie Burgess Eanes, brothers Jimmy Eanes and Fred Lee Eanes, and sister Rebecca Kendrick.
Visitation will be held at Fair Funeral Home on Monday, October 7, 2013 from 6-8 PM, and at other times at 724 Meadow Green Village.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County.
