Obituary For Polly Hutcherson Setliff
September 23, 1933 - December 3, 2018


Polly Hutcherson Setliff, 85, of  Eden, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, December 3, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, December 6, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Ridge-View Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home.

Mrs. Setliff was born on September 23, 1933 in Leaksville, NC, to the late George and Myrtle Shropshire Hutcherson.  She was a retired clerk for the Decorative Bedding Department of Fieldcrest Mills.  Mrs. Setliff was of the Baptist faith as a child, until she met the love of her life and joined First United Methodist Church in Draper, where she was a member for 63 years. As a member of the United Methodist Women, she was nominated as Mother of the Year.  She also served as the Financial Secretary of the church for more than 30 years and was recently honored for her service.  Her family, who she cherished, was her pride and joy.

She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, William R. "Bill" Setliff of Eden;  her four children whom adored her, Teresa S. Walker of Eden, Charles Setliff (Angie) of Reidsville, Sandra S. Chambers (David) of Eden, and Tim Setliff (Donna) of Reidsville; and her special "adopted" son, Lanney Gilley of Eden.  "Mamaw", as she was affectionately called, was also survived by nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Josh, Lori, Charles Jr, Marty, Lynn, Stephen, Matt, and Leslie.  She has 22 great-grandchildren;  brothers, Clayton Hutcherson (Demetris), Harold Hutcherson (Anita);  and her sister, Buena Martin, all of Eden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Otis Hutcherson;  sister, Pauline H. Crowder;  and most recently, her special niece, Karen Amos.

The family wishes to thank the special nurses and doctors at Annie Penn Cancer Center, UNC-Rockingham Cancer Center, Dr. Paul Sasser and Dr. Najeeb Rehman, and the staff of Hospice of Rockingham County.
