Obituary For June Cruise Gentry
April 16, 1932 - June 4, 2018


June Cruise Gentry, 86, of 615 S. Hamilton Street in Eden, passed away Monday afternoon, June 4, 2018, at her home.

 

A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, June 7, at Woodlawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

 

June was born April 16, 1932 in Patrick County, VA , to the late Forest Arthur Cruise and Helene Lang Cruise.  She was a graduate of Meadows of Dan High School, Class of 1950, a member of First Presbyterian, and a retiree of E. I. DuPont, Inc.  June enjoyed hiking,  playing basketball, bowling, dancing and traveling in the US and abroad.  She was a talented artist and enjoyed painting landscapes of her beloved mountains.  She loved to work in her yard and was a member of the Garden Club.  June loved attending the Eden Kiwanis Club Christmas parties.  She was a member of the Winston-Salem Elks Lodge #449, where she enjoyed dancing the night away.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Hudgins and husband, Don;  sister, Sandra Cruise and "Tango";  daughter-in-law, Sheryl Gentry;  son-in-law, Skip Johnson;  granddaughter, Trina Via and wife, Lori, along with their children, Timothy, Alyssa, Danielle, Taty and Trey;  grandson, Andy Johnson and wife, Tesh and their daughter, Sawyer;  granddaughter, Sandy Johnson;  granddaughter, Ellen Furstenberg and husband, Michael;  great-grandsons, Trey and Caleb French;  step-grandson, David King;  and step-great-grandson, Grant King.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Gentry;  son, David Gentry;  daughter, Cindy Johnson;  and her special friend, Coy Hudgins.

 

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Rockingham County and UNC-Rockingham Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center for their care and support.
