John Oliver Moore, 89, of 613 Franklin Dr., Eden, passed away on July 8, 2017 at Roman Eagle Memorial Home in Danville, VA. 

A funeral service will be held at Fair Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 2pm. Burial will follow the service at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens with military rites performed by the Rockingham County Veterans Honor Guard. Masonic graveside rites will follow the committal service.

Mr. Moore was born on November 24, 1927 to the late James Wilson Moore and Pearl Simpson Moore in Reidsville, NC. He served in the United States Army and was a WWII veteran. Mr. Moore retired from the United Postal Service as a mail carrier.  John Moore also was a past Master Mason in the Dan-River Masonic Lodge as well as a member of the Scottish Rites.

He is survived by his daughter Rhonda Barnhill of Eden; two sons, Barry Moore (Sandra) of Mayodan, Marty Moore (Terry) of Eden; seven grandchildren and five great-grand children; and several nieces and nephews. 

 In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Dale Craddock Moore; his brother Cecil S. Moore, and his Infant brother John Wilson Moore III.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 from 6-8pm at Fair Funeral Home and other times at his home.
