Noah James Compton, 82, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at his home.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, July 7, at Compton Family Cemetery on Drag Mountain Road in Ridgeway, VA.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 5 - 6:30 PM, at Fair Funeral Home in Eden.

Mr. Compton was born December 10, 1934 in Henry County, VA, to the late Monroe Compton and Ollie Haynes Compton Barker.  He was a member of Church of the Brethren and was retired from Sears after 47 years of service.  He loved his job with Sears, loved people, farming, and his dogs.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Ward Compton of the home;  son, Bret Compton of Ridgeway, VA; and two brothers, Jackie Compton and Cecil Compton, both of Ridgeway.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene Compton and Willie Mason Compton and sister, Evelyn Sink.
