Obituary For Robert Fleming Carroll
January 22, 1928 - January 23, 2017


Robert "Bob" Fleming Carroll, 89, of 421 Chestnut Street in Eden, passed away Monday evening, January 23, 2017 at Morehead Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, January 26 at Leaksville United Methodist Church.  Interment will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.  Full military honors will be provided by the Rockingham County Veteran's Honor Guard and the NC National Guard.

Bob was born January 22, 1928 in Leaksville, NC, to the late Robert Andrew Carroll and Frances Fleming Carroll. He was a graduate of Leaksville High School and attended East Carolina University. He was a US Army veteran who served during the Korean War.  Bob was a co-owner and operator of Towne Squire, Ltd for many years.  He was very active in his community serving in the local chapter of the Jaycee's;  member of  the Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce,  and the Eden Merchant's Association in which he served as president.   He was an avid golfer and as a lifetime member of Meadow Green's Country Club, he served on the board there.  Bob was a member of Leaksville United Methodist Church and served on the Church Council.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Gloria McCollum Carroll of the home;  daughter, Julie Carroll Murray and husband, Gordon of Brevard;  son, Michael Fleming Carroll;  two granddaughters, Leighann Carroll, Caitlyn and Lauren Murray;  sister, Alice Carroll Hundley of Eden;  niece, Carroll Hundley Tulloch and husband, Del of Eden; nephew, Gary Hundley and wife, Lisa of Cary;  and brother-in-law, James H. McCollum and wife, Marsha of North Myrtle Beach, SC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 38 years, Julia Scott Carroll.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 - 2 PM) at Leaksville United Methodist Church and other times at the residence.
