Obituary For Azile Pender Lemons
April 29, 1932 - October 20, 2016


Azile Pender Lemons, age 84 of Eden, NC passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, NC. 

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 Sunday at Overlook Cemetery in Eden.

Azile was born April 29, 1932 to the late Charles Marshall and Willie Lou Duncan Pender. A model for Davison's in Atlanta, GA in her twenties, she later retired from a career in the Insurance industry.

A member of The Church of the Epiphany in Eden, she was active in the Altar Guild, the Episcopal Church Women and Sewing Group, served Meals On Wheels, and was a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society. Earlier activities included membership to The Draper Junior Women’s Club where she served as President, Girl Scouts of America where she served as a Group Leader, and local political party organizations. 

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bryant Lemons; brother, Phillip Pender; sisters Constance Buck, Marie Willard, Alma Fair, Eliza Jennings, Rebecca Carter and Norma Parker.

She is survived by her daughters Karen Cherry Cox (Garry) of Eden, Cathy Cherry and Lisa Cherry of Wilmington, NC, and Amy Cherry Holland (Chris) of Wake Forest, NC; grandchildren Christopher Cox (Ava) and William Cox of Eden, Kate Clark (Chad) of Wilmington and Joshua Holland of Wake Forest; great-grandchildren Stephen Cox, Levi Clark and Camden Clark; step-daughter, Jeri Wilson (Mike) and their daughter, Kelly of Reidsville;half-brother Charles Pender of Terre Haute Indiana; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
