Nancy Jane Hensdale Smith, 90, of 215 Ginny Road in Eden, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Morehead Nursing Center surrounded by family and her beloved pastor, Bobby Billings.  

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, August 1, at Floyd Baptist Church, 3652 Price Road in Eden where she was a member. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Martinsville, VA.

Mrs. Smith was born June 21, 1926  in Walnut Cove, NC to the late Charles Albert and Beulah Ziglar Hensdale.  She retired from Eden City Schools in 1986.  Her primary job was being a devoted wife and mother.  

She is survived by her daughters, Pat Martin (James), Nancy Blanton, Sandra Hall (Gary), and Wanda Shelton;  son, Bobby Smith (Cathy);  eight grandchildren, Angela Clark, Renee Price (Rob), Kevin Blanton, Michael Yeatts (Betsy), Wendy Wilson, Justin Smith (Brittany), and Alex Shelton; six great-grandchildren, Ariell Yeatts, Trey Price, Tylan Yeatts, Chase Price, Noah Yeatts, and Kuper Yeatts;  one great-great-grandchild, Tanner Travis;  daughter-in-law, Linda Smith Hamlet;  multiple nieces and nephews;  and one special niece, Kaye Hensdale Bullins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Edward Smith;  son, William "Billy" Ralph Smith;  grandson-in-law, Mark Wilson;  three brothers;  and three sisters.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of Sandra Hall, 110 Cedar Run in Reidsville.
