Obituary For Frances Waid McBride
August 30, 1926 - May 18, 2016


Frances Waid McBride, 89, formerly of Adams Street in Eden, passed away Wednesday evening, May 18, 2016, at the home of her daughter.
 
A funeral service will be held at  4 PM on Sunday, May 22, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.
 
Mrs. McBride was born August 30, 1926 in Moneta, VA to the late Lewis Archer and Julia Burroughs Waid.  She was a graduate of Brosville High School and a faithful member of Trinity Wesleyan Church for about 50 years. She was a retiree of Winn Dixie.  Frances also worked at Leaksville-Spray Elementary School.  As a young woman, she was part of the US Cadet Nursing group for more than a year, which was affiliated with the US Navy.  She was active in her community until her health declined, serving as Past President of Wesleyan Women, a Sunday School Teacher, a volunteer with Salvation Army, member of the Duke Power Retiree Group and a Lay Shepherd of Trinity Wesleyan Church.  More recently, Frances was a member of the Red Hat Society.
 
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Frank K. McBride (Alice) of Eden, P. W. McBride (Linda) of Ridgeway, VA, and James G. McBride (Sarita) of Eden; daughter, Linda McBride Stallard (Boyce) of Ridgeway, VA;  13 grandchildren;  26 great-grandchildren;  12 great-great-grandchildren;  sisters, Mary Hardt of Virginia Beach, VA, Sallie Thompson of Bedford, VA, and Maxine Cheek of Lynchburg, VA. and special friend, Joy Wooten of Reidsville.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. McBride;  five brothers, Frank, Archer, Reese, Hope, and Cecil Waid;  and one sister, Alice Robertson.
 
The family will receive friends Saturday evening, 7 - 9 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at 125 Adams Street in Eden.
