Obituary For Betty Frith Gatewood October 7, 1941 - November 1, 2015 Betty Frith Gatewood, 74, of 719 Carrington Lane in Eden, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter Sunday evening, November 1, 2015. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, November 4, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery. Betty was born October 7, 1941 in Henry County, VA to the late Lucius and Effie Dunn Frith. Her passions in life were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and flower gardening. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Gatewood McCrary and husband, Dennis of Lenoir , Tammy Gatewood Evans and husband, Brandon of Eden; son, Irvin Wayne Gatewood of Lenoir; grandchildren, Shanna Rogers of Denver, NC, Kenny Kirkman, II, of Eden, Andrew Kirkman and Tiffany Paine of Eden, Summer McCrary Ritchie and husband, Chase of Lenoir, Daniel Evans and wife, Tiffany of Eden, Savannah Gatewood of Lynchburg, VA, and Chad McCrary of Lenoir; great-grandchildren, Justin Fuller of Jacksonville, NC, Rylei Ritchie of Lenoir, Peightyn Ritchie of Lenoir, and Ethan Evans of Eden; sisters, Cora Brammer, Mary Joyce and husband, Jerry, Dovie Dixon, and Shirley Banks and husband, Leroy, all of Eden; brothers, Amos Moore of Reidsville, Ed Frith and wife, Donita of Bristol, VA, and Dave Frith of Eden; and special nephew, Jerry Moore, Jr. and wife, Lisa. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 1/2 years, Wayne Gatewood; her infant son, Robert Gatewood; sister, Lucy Knowles; and brothers, George Moore, Jerry Moore, Henry Moore, and Jimmy Frith. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Tammy Evans, 598 Yount Road in Eden.
