Obituary For Carl Eugene Bateman February 24, 1965 - August 28, 2015 Carl Eugene Bateman, age 50 of 154 Old Hwy. 87 in Eden passed away on Friday August 28 surrounded by his loving family at NC Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem. A funeral service will be held 3 pm Tuesday September 1st, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Overlook Cemetery. Carl was born February 24, 1965 in the Leaksville section of Eden to the late Donald A. Bateman and Gaynelle Witt Bateman. Mr. Bateman battled Cerebral Palsy since birth. He loved reminiscing old times with his friends and relatives and always had a kind word for everyone. Some of his most favorite past times were listening to the Easter Brothers who sang gospel music, watching wrestling and going to Golden Corral on Sundays with his brothers. He is survived by two brothers, Donnie W. Bateman of Stoneville, Ricky D. Bateman and wife Sherry of Eden; three sisters, Candy A. Bateman, Penny S. Bateman of the home and Sandra "Kay" Robertson and husband Mike of Eden; nephew, Dwayne Bateman of Greensboro; three nieces, Deanna B. Fisher, Dara B. Cassell of Eden and Kaylee Merricks of the home; aunt, Helen Hord of Reidsville, great nephew and three great neices, many cousins and friends. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service 2 - 3 pm at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home.
