Obituary For Samuel Douglas Rodgers Jr.

Samuel Douglas Rodgers Jr., 88, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Bethel Ridge Assisted Living, Fincastle, VA.

A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, May 9th at Dan View Cemetery.

Mr. Rodgers was born on September 29, 1926 in Draper North Carolina to the late Samuel D. Rodgers Sr. and Mary Isabel Boyd. He attended Draper High School and was a WWII Navy Veteran. Mr. Rodgers was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, Virginia. He was a graduate of Draper High School, and Dewry Technical Institute, 1959. He was certified from National Radio Institute in 1967. Mr. Rodgers was the Supervisor of Instrumentation at E.I. DuPont before he retired.

He is survived by son, William D. Rodgers and wife, Carol, of Petersburg, TN; daughter, Edna R. Black and husband, Richard, of Roanoke, VA; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Hall Rodgers, and 2 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Fair Funeral Home one hour prior to the graveside service before proceeding to the cemetery.
