Obituary For Lillie Bell Virginia Cheshire Powell Hopkins December 16, 1923 - October 27, 2014 Lillie Bell Virginia Cheshire Powell Hopkins, 90, of Eden, passed away Monday morning, October 27, 2014 at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital in Reidsville. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, October 30, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery. Mrs. Hopkins was born December 16, 1923 in Rockingham County, to the late Joe and Lucy Mae Raynor Cheshire. She attended Gospel Road Baptist Church and a graduate of Leaksville High School, Class of 1941. Lillie was a retiree of Fieldcrest mills after 38 1/2 years of service. She is survived by her son, A. J. Powell and wife, Donna of Eden; daughter, Iantha Waddell of Eden; 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; her brothers, Lewis Garnold Cheshire of Eden and Joe Cheshire, Jr. of Level Cross, NC; sister-in-law, Carrie Cheshire (wife of David); and brother-in-law, Tommy Tumlinson (husband of Rebecca). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Andrew Powell and her second husband, Raymond Hopkins; her son, Johnnie Lee Powell; sisters, Nannie Powell, Katherine Church, and Rebecca Tumlinson; and brothers, David Cheshire, J. D. Cheshire, Zachery Cheshire, and Alan Ray Cheshire. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, 311 W.
