Obituary For G. Wilford Radford, Sr. October 12, 1931 - September 19, 2013 G. Wilford Radford, Sr., 81, of 605 Overby Street in Eden, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, September 22, at First Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow in Danview Cemetery with military rites to be performed by Rockingham County Veteran's Honor Guard. Mr. Radford was born October 12, 1931 in Draper, NC. He was the son of the late Eldridge Gabriel Radford and Lucy Stallings Radford. Mr. Radford was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. He was a lifetime member of First Church of the Brethren and served as church treasurer for many years. He was a former member of the Eden Lions Club. Mr. Radford was a retiree of Vanier Graphics, working over 30 years as a pre-press supervisor. He also worked for nine years for Spray Water, Power and Land Company. He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Young Radford of the home; son, George W. Radford, Jr. and wife, Leanna of Havelock, NC; daughter Lori R. Bailey and husband, Bryant of Eden; five grandchildren, Meghan Radford, Anna Radford, Meredith Radford, Mark Bailey and Matthew Bailey; brother, Paul Grady Radford and wife, Zenella of Catharpin, VA; sisters, Elaine Burchett and husband, John of Eden and Sibyl Beaver and husband, Junius of Madison; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Cox and brother, Eldridge Radford, Jr. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, 6 - 8 PM at First Church of the Brethren.
